Featured pictures are images from highly skilled creators that the Wikimedia Commons community has chosen as some of the highest quality on the site.

Simply click on the name of a category on this page to see the featured images for that subject. To reuse any images from Wikimedia Commons please see this guide.

There are currently 20,584 of such images in the Commons repository which is roughly 0.016% of the available images (129,261,034). All featured images are entered into our annual Picture of the Year competition. You may wish to browse the profiles of individual photographers, illustrators, and restorationists within the Commons community who have contributed a substantial portion of our featured pictures.

Images may be considered for featured status by being listed at Commons:Featured picture candidates, where the community will reach a consensus. An image only appears one time in the galleries. You can find all featured pictures in Category:Featured pictures on Wikimedia Commons.
